Nintendo Switch Underpowered??
Nintendo Switch release
comes as a breath of fresh air in today’s console war scenario ! Why? Read on:
So, in today’s age of power, resolution and
cutting edge graphics Nintendo was expected to come with something that could
compete with Sony and Microsoft in terms of games and raw power alone. Gone
were the days when the console wars were in terms of games. Now the focus was
shifted to High graphics and resolution. With PC pumping out resolution in 4k
and 60 fps, even though the PS4 could handle 60fps in 1080p, it wasn’t enough,
and this was evident when the plans for PS4 pro and Xbox one S and Xbox Project
Scorpio were announced. Strangely this was the first time when a console was
upgraded mid cycle, i.e. instead of bringing into the market the next
generation of consoles, they were upgraded to satisfy the needs of the
consumers to provide 4k entertainment in order to compete with the pc consumers
who prided over the advancement in terms of graphics. For me this was a very
sad state of affairs. I mean don’t get me wrong, graphics do matter. But people
forget that graphics and resolution are both not the same. Yes as much as I love
playing games in full HD and 60 fps in my pc, that doesn’t mean 60 fps and
1080p in my ps4 are bad. Yes I love when
the graphics in my game amazes me, but then people are like PC is the only
platform where great games are able to be processed and consoles are the only
thing holding the developers back from going the next step. So PC exclusives
deliver eye popping graphics and not consoles. Well I won’t go into the
technical terms but here are a few console exclusive games of current gen to
prove my point
Last of US (PS3 and PS4)
Final Fantasy XV(PS4 and Xbox one as of writing)
Uncharted 4 (PS4 exclusive)
So ok and
then I wont be talking about the AAA exclusives, of course in each case the PC
version turns out to be SUPERIOR right guys ????
Arkham Knight so PC users remember the epic launch of this game :P XD
So finally
some of the best games like last of us , uncharted 4 with cinematic experience and
a storyline to remember have come from consoles. It is this neck to neck race
between consoles that make them produce some of the most famous game series
such as Kingdom Hearts, Metal Gear Solid, Gears of War, Halo, Ratchet and Clank,
God of War, Legend of Zelda, Pokémon are
testament to the fact that healthy competition gives rise to such games. I’m
sure if there was a monopoly of a single company for the consoles, the
companies wouldn’t put that much effort into making such great games… And in the
end the consumer will suffer. I mean in the sense such games wouldn’t ever have
been released.
Console exclusives have given us some of the best series ever
And It’s not
like I hate PC gaming, hell, I’m primarily a CS GO gamer, but today’s state in
gaming where everyone is looking to break the pixels and with multiplayer being
mostly FPS military clones ( I’m looking at you COD, Battlefield). It’s here
that indigenous ip like Splatoon bring a much-needed relief in today’s gaming
industry.
And saying
again I love every gaming platform, it’s just that hate towards the other
consoles just because of underpowered graphics compared to PC. For every AAA
title like Assasins Creed, Bioshock, Call of Duty with some amazing gameplay
and story there are console exclusive games which bring diversity to the
general gaming audience.
The Nintendo Switch may be underpowered, but its
unique take on making a cross between a home console and portable one is where
it stands out. Its innovation is what makes it so special. Whether playing
funny games using the joy cons and motion controls or going on an adventure
with Link, I might be too early in saying this, but I ll say one thing innovation
is a very important thing in the gaming industry and Nintendo has shown earlier
that graphics don’t matter always. With the launch title Legend of Zelda:Breath
of the Wild getting a near perfect score from almost everywhere and being
considered as probably one of the best open world games ever made in gaming
history, the point that gameplay comes before graphics has been shown again.
And personally blasting the blood out of my enemies in Counter Strike, Siege ,
Battlefield, or cutting up monsters in Witcher, playing such games brings a
sense of break and joy to me. Pushing for realism is fine, sure why not, but
then for those who say graphics need to be just like real life, I disagree
because the reason I play games is because they are video-games and nothing
else.
Love any
game which u like. Choice is always yours, but please do not let the matter of “realism”
or graphics or resolution come in the way of appreciating or hating the other
game too.

Even though BOTW is just a launch title it has already set its mark in gaming history
In todays
console war along with the PC Nintendo has done a very bold move, and I hope
that this turns out to be in their favour. Considering the fact that the
initial response has been very good and after the failure of Wii U this is
their chance at redemption in making their presence felt again. A cornered
Nintendo was being seen as a company that had lost its magic but right now it
seems that its proving everyone wrong again. Here I rest the case that just
because the switch is underpowered it will be a failure.. Everything is on the
games and not graphics cause in the end I play games for the story and game and
not realism because for me games are the way to escape reality .
BEST OF LUCK NINTENDO SWITCH |
